Day 6

Day 6. It was my first full day in Cartagena, and I planned to have loads of fun. I first had a quick breakfast at the hotel which was good, then went out to find a tour guide. I decided to get a tour guide for Cartagena because there are a lot of things to see. I found a man named Carlos for a decent price and we set of on foot to see some of the things the city had to offer. We first went back to the Main Street, and he explained what all the buildings were. I asked him if i could go into a souvenir shop that looked good and he said sure. He showed my all the stuff that he thought was a good buy, but i decided not to buy anything this time. After that he showed my the beach, which reminded me so much of Miami. I decided that tomorrow I will go to the Beach in the morning. We then went to the ruins of the old Cartagena fort, and had a lot of fun there. I have always loved looking at old forts and seeing why they were put there. This one was at the port so enemy ships could not get in. After that it was time to go back to the hotel. I paid Carlos and said thank you so much. I ate dinner at The hotel which i think i forgot to mention was right on the beach, while watching the sun sink beneath the waves. After that I went to sleep to get ready to have another great day in Cartagena.

Day 3

I woke up to another beautiful day in Bogota, Colombia. I ate a breakfast at Mcdonalds but they had some cultural meals like Arroz con Pollo. I decided to try that and for Mcdonalds it was actually pretty good. After i ate breakfast I decided to go to the park. At the park there was a man selling dried corn to feed to the pidgeons in the square. It was only ten cents for a big pack of the corn so I decided to try it out. I put some of the corn in my hand and right away dozens of them flew into my nd gobbled the corn up. I spent awhile here before I finally ran out of corn. I kept walking around the square until i saw a man painting peoples faces for a job. I thought it would be fun to have one to hang in my room so I sat down and waited my turn. When he was finished, I was very pleased with the results so I asked him to put it in a tube for me. I took it home to the hotel and packed it safely in my bag before I went back out to find a place for lunch. I couldn't find any restaurants that were to my liking, so i just bought a double cheeseburger from Mcy Dee's. I walked around the poorer side of Bogota, but it was a little scary so i turned back. I also went to the hospital that I decided to give money to and got a tour. Many people didn't even have beds or help so I knew I had made the right choice. I gave the head of hospital my donation and he was estatic. He thought that i was the nicest person in the world and he wanted to take me out for dinner. I said no politely and was a little embarresed. I then ate dinner at the hotel which was superb before sitting down to read a book. After i finished i went to sleep at about ten thirty.

Day 14

I woke up early because my flight was at 9:50 am and i wanted to get a great breakfast before i left. I checked out from the hotel after packing my bags. I got out of the hotel at 6:30 and drove towards the airport slowly because i was looking for a colombian diner. I found one and it was called Dennys. I had a delicious breakfast of bacon, eggs, pancakes, sausage and coffee. I got to the Bogota airport at 8 o' clock and checked in at their desk. I went through security which was not bad at all and sat down to wait for the plane. I met this man who finally was able to go to America to see his son. I talked with him for awhile before he was pulled away because he had drugs on him...I guess he will not be able to see his son for awhile longer. I finally boarded the plane after finishing Harry Potter 7 which was great, and I sat down in my seat in row 17. The flight was about 2 hours and I got to watch the movie Don Quihote. I also listened to music on my ipod. "Crank that Jumprope" was listened to 23 times on that flight. I got into Miami international airport at about 1 o' clock and picked up my bags at the carosel. I took a taxi to my house. It feels good to be home.
